Possessions:

Each child will have a “cubby” for shoes, extra clothes, nap blankets and diaper bags if needed.    Everything needs to be labeled with your child’s name.   Green Kids Drop-In Centers will not be responsible for clothing or other personal items brought to the center.   We encourage you to have your child leave personal belongings at home.   Play guns, weapons and other toys that encourage aggressive play are never welcome.

Late Child Pick-Up:

A charge of $1.00 a minute per child will be assessed to parents who leave their child beyond regular closing time.   This fee is to be paid at the time of pick-up and will be paid directly to the staff person in charge.

Arrival and Departure of your Child:

For the safety of your child and security reasons, there are certain regulations governing the arrival and departure of each child.

Green Kids is equipped with two safety doors. After your registration, at the first visit you will be given a combination code to open the lobby door. Check in will take place at the kiosk in the lobby. Your combination code will allow entry to the front desk, where a Green Kids staff member will assist your child through the gate.  Parents, for the safety of the children please do not open our gate to let your child in or out.
Only listed authorized persons with photo on file (or photo I.D.) will be allowed to pick up your child.   If someone other than the parent or guardian were picking up the child he/she would be released to the people listed on the enrollment form only after photo I.D. has been seen. In situations of custody agreements, the center will follow the advice of court ordered documents.

All monies owed to Green Kids are paid upon departure.

No child shall ever be left alone. All children will be supervised at all times by a caregiver.

A fire emergency and weather alert plan is posted in each room.   It explains all actions to be taken by the staff in these situations.

Emergency Situations and Accidents:

All staff members are trained and certified in First Aid and CPR. Instructions from the poison control center or a physician will be followed when providing first aid procedures or administering emergency medications.

In the event of an accident or emergency 911 will be called and the parent will be called. If the parent cannot make it to the center prior to the transport of a child by and emergency squad a staff member will accompany the child. All pertinent data and health record information will be transported with the child.

An incident/injury report will be completed by the caregiver in charge when the following occur:

1.   An illness, accident or injury which requires first aid treatment; or

2.   A bump or blow to the head; or

3.   Emergency transporting; or

4.   An unusual or unexpected event which jeopardizes the safety of the children or caregivers.

Food:

Green Kids offers mostly organic snacks at no additional charge. These are served a few times throughout the day. Lunch is served between 12noon and 1:00pm, dinner between 6:00pm and 7:00pm.  For an additional $6.00 per child lunch or dinner can be purchased. Lunch orders need to be in by 11:30am and dinner orders need to be placed by 5:30pm. Currently, Green Kids serves take out kids meals from Mc Donalds. Please note when making the drink choice we do not allow the children to have caffinated soda when in our facility.
Parents may bring snacks or food for their children; however, each child must be able to feed themself any snacks or food provided. We are peanut free,  we do not allow any peanuts or peanut products in our facility. Sorry, this also includes any items from Chick-fil-a.

If your child is still in diapers you must supply us with disposable diapers and wipes and any ointments you wish for us to use. Please also include any special instructions for your child.

Children and Illness:

The following precautions will be taken for children suspected of having a communicable disease:

1. The center will immediately notify the parent of the child’s condition.
2. Any child who has or develops the following signs or symptoms of illness will be immediately isolated and discharged to his/her parent:

  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Severe coughing, causing a child to become red in the face or make a whooping cough or sounds
  • Yellowish skin or eye
  • Conjunctivitis (pink eye)
  • Elevated Temperature
  • Untreated infected skin patches
  • Unusually dark urine and/or gray or white stools
  • Stiff neck
  • Evidence of lice, scabies, and other parasitic infestations. A child can not return to the center unless these infestations are gone.  A check by an employee trained in communicable disease will be necessary before the child can be re-admitted to the center.  A child with lice will not be permitted to return until all nits are gone.

If a child develops symptoms considered to be an emergency we will call 911.

3. A child must have a doctor’s note to return to the center after having a communicable disease or illness, as deemed necessary by the administrator or be symptom free for 24 hours.

In the event of a communicable disease (chicken pox, mumps, measles, etc.) parents of the other children in attendance at the same time of said child will be notified by the center.

Medications:

Green Kids Drop-In Centers does not administer regular medication. We will administer life saving medications (EpiPen).

Behavior Guidance Policy

We understand that children need clear limits which are set in ways that do not negatively influence their self-esteem or keep them from developing their full human potential. We believe that all of the children should experience a safe fun atmosphere. Our open room environment provides the children with opportunities to explore within consistent, age appropriate limits. In general, limits are set to keep a child from hurting themselves, to keep a child from hurting others, or to keep a child from infringing on others' property. Limits are set positively.  Each age group has similar needs for limits but useful techniques vary with the child’s developmental level. If behavioral issues occur, our philosophy is to enable the children to learn human values and take responsibility for their own actions. We work hard to minimize behavioral issues while having a positive environment for all the children.

When situations occur we will redirect the child. We will offer a different toy or suggest a new activity to the child who is showing undesirable behavior. We also will explain to the child that their behavior was inappropriate and will show them an appropriate way to handle the situation.

We will always give the child attention for appropriate behavior and reinforce the positive actions.

If redirection is needed the child will be removed from the group. This will allow time to relax and not be influenced by peers. The process is as follows: The child is supervised in a separate area and will have access to quiet activities and materials while calming down. If this method is unsuccessful at changing the childs behavior, we will call you and ask that the child be picked up.

Guidelines For Immediate Disenrollment

Green Kids will disenroll any child whose behavior creates a risk of harm to the health and safety of other children and staff.
